Best Eats in Simi Valley/Moorpark/Thousand Oaks

I have lived in the Simi Valley area since 1980 and have seen a lot of changes in this city.  When we arrived there were only a few restaurants in town and they were either Italian or Mexican.  We also had several fast food places as well.  Then we started to grow and as we grew we got more Mexican and Italian restaurants.  I couldn’t believe the city council was allowing new establishments to open up more Mexican and Italian places to eat.  Well in the years to come if we actually took a poll of the total number of Mexican and Italian restaurants or eateries Simi would probably have the highest number for the sq.miles of the city.  Then we got our mall in 2006 and I had high hopes for new kinds of food.  I saw Japanese, American cuisine, and Mexican and Italian.  They did it to me again.  Has anyone heard of fish?  Or maybe a Mimi’s?  I was so frustrated and I don’t think I am alone.  Then we had Barton’s open.  It has great ambiance and is a bit pricey but your happy to pay it because you get great service and great food!  But hooray we are getting the Souplantation in!!!  Now I don’t have to drive to Porter Ranch to go there.  And we also got a Panera’s!!!  If you haven’t eaten there you must go.  They have free Wi-Fi and great soup and sandwiches and are even open for breakfast until the food runs out.  They also sell their specialty breads which are absolutely  delicious. I don’t want anymore Mexican or Italian anything in this town.  We need to grow up and bring interesting varieties of food to our area.  I would love to get some feedback on whether you agree or disagree and I would also love to see some critiques on any restaurant you have been to in any of the areas around Simi as well.  Keep tuned in for more on the eateries in our town.

  1. Any Indian restaurant? You just gotta love curry. I also read a bit of info about the Town Center in this site: http://www.simivalley.com
